After logging in, you will see the dashboard and the left-hand navigation menu. This menu provides access to the core CAMS functions. These are grouped into hierarchy management, reporting, modelling, mobile operations, and configuration. Each section supports a specific aspect of asset management.
Data Management
Location
The Location section represents the highest level of your organisation’s asset hierarchy. It is typically organised by sites, regions, or campuses and serves as the entry point for navigating into more detailed levels. Available functions include:
- Viewing and managing high-level locations such as sites or campuses
- Drilling down into sub-areas within each location
- Adding, editing, or downloading location-level data
Asset
The Asset section manages categories of assets within a location. Assets may represent buildings, infrastructure, or equipment, and this section allows you to set up and maintain those categories. Available functions include:
- Viewing existing asset categories
- Adding new categories under a location
- Editing existing asset records
Base Level
The Base Level is the most detailed layer of the hierarchy, covering components, equipment, or individual records. It is where condition data and inspection history are maintained. Available functions include:
- Adding or updating base-level entries
- Viewing condition or inspection data recorded against them
- Exporting data for reporting
- Deleting data when no longer required
Common sub-menus at this level are:
- Add New Data / Data Add & Update – create new records or import data
- Data Explorer – view records, apply filters, and download data
- Edit Data – update existing records
- Bulk Data Upload – import large batches of updates
- Delete Data – remove existing records
- Media Upload – add photos or documents linked to records
Custom Levels
Custom Levels provide flexibility for organisations with unique requirements. Administrators can extend the hierarchy beyond Location, Asset, and Base Level to meet organisation-specific needs.
Analysis and Reporting
Reports
The Reports section produces summaries and visualisations of inspection and asset data. Reports can be customised by administrators and are available to users with reporting access. Available functions include:
- Generating lifecycle reports
- Producing tables summarising inspections or asset metadata
- Creating graphs or charts showing condition ratings, inspection frequency, or other trends
Reports support both internal planning and external compliance.
Predictive Modelling
The Predictive Modelling section supports long-term forecasting. It combines Level of Service (LoS) datasets with inspection data to project performance and resource requirements. Available functions include:
- Uploading Level of Service (LoS) datasets
- Forecasting asset lifecycle trends using condition and usage data
Mobile Operations
Mobile
The Mobile section links CAMS Web with CAMS Mobile. It ensures that field data collection and synchronisation are connected to the web platform. Available functions include:
- Preparing and confirming inspection data for field devices
- Reviewing data uploaded from inspectors
- Monitoring the status of mobile sync activities
System Configuration
Configuration (Admins Only)
The Configuration section is restricted to administrators and controls system-wide settings. Available functions include:
- Configuring hierarchy levels
- Creating and managing custom fields and data definitions
- Defining charts, reporting parameters, and system settings
- Configuring the CAMS Mobile interface
Changes made in this area apply across the entire system.
Working With the Menu
Example Navigation Flow
- To edit records: select the hierarchy level (for example, Base Level) and open Edit Data
- To view data: select the hierarchy level and open Data Explorer
- To upload photos: select the hierarchy level and open Media Upload
Best Practices
- Ensure you are in the correct hierarchy level before using Add, Edit, or Delete options
- If a menu item is not visible, check your role permissions
- Use Data Explorer for viewing only – changes should be made through Edit Data or Add Data
