Overview
CAMS uses role-based access control to ensure users only see and interact with features relevant to their responsibilities. Roles define the level of access available in CAMS Web and CAMS Mobile, and they are assigned during user setup or update in the Admin panel.
Available Roles
Admin
Admins have the highest level of access. They can:
- Configure system modules and settings
- Add or remove users
- Manage roles and permissions
- Access all reports and data
Admins cannot be restricted from any menu in the system.
Editor
Editors are standard operational users. They can:
- Create and edit records across assets
- Run inspections and update results
- Generate and view reports
- Use both CAMS Web and CAMS Mobile with full functionality
Editors cannot change organisation-level settings or manage users.
Viewer
Viewers are read-only users. They can:
- Access selected reports and menus without editing
- View inspection data across asset types
- Navigate CAMS Web with limited menus
- Use CAMS Mobile for viewing inspections (with quarantine applied to any data they enter)
Viewers cannot update asset data or access admin settings.
Where Roles Are Configured
Roles are assigned in the Organisation Users (or Stakeholder Users) section of the Admin panel.
-
Go to Org. Users (Or Stakeholder Users) in the Admin side menu
- Add the user’s email by pressing the +New button and add name and email in the right-hand pane (or select the user for existing users by clicking on the record)
- Use the Select User Role dropdown to choose a role (Admin, Editor, or Viewer)
- Click Save to finalise
All users must have a role assigned when created or edited.
Notes on Mobile Access
- Admin and Editor roles can edit and sync data directly from the mobile app.
- Viewer role edits are held in quarantine until approved by an Admin, ensuring data integrity.
